As most of you who read the blog are living north of us, I bring you greetings from sunny FL. Actually, today, it is slightly overcast, possibly drizzly FL. However, yesterday, I determined that we have moved to, and now reside in, Wet Hell. It's mid-October, closing in on the end of October and yesterday it was 84 degrees with 94% humidity. Yep, you heard me - 94%. That means that we were a mere 6% away from SWIMMING to work. Mom called yesterday afternoon and said that it was in the 40s in Little Rock and raining. She was in pants and long sleeves and had the heater blasting on her cold tootsies. At that exact moment in time, I was wearing a jean skirt, a sleeveless top, no shoes and sitting underneath the ceiling fan going full blast. This place is a little better than an inhabited swamp.
Last night Emma, I and the neighbors carved pumpkins. Actually, our neighbor Jeanie and I carved pumpkins while Emma and her son scampered around the yard and played in the pumpkin guts we were skillfully removing. The rest of the carving went about the same way. We carved, they gamboled around us. Finally got her in bed around 8:45 - which is a bit late for her. As she wiggled and twisted in the bed, doing her impression of a 3 year old Neo impersonator from The Matrix, I told her if she would be still and let her arms, legs, and belly rest, she would feel better. That's when I was informed, "No, Mama. It's just my eyes and my face that are tired. That's all." Right. I forgot.

Baby Boy Mauk Update
We went to the maternal-fetal specialist again today. Dr. Hume assures us that his heart is fine. And I quote, "Now that's just a beautiful shot of the heart right there. Everything looks perfect." He reminded us that he can't guarantee complete perfection but from everything he can see, it looks like baby boy will be just as cute and healthy as his big sister. We even brought home so 4-D photos of the little guy. It seems he didn't want his photo taken as his left hand was in front of his face most of the time. He has extremely long fingers and both the doctor and the sonogram tech said he was wiggly. You'll have to excuse them; they haven't met E.
Since Mom and Dad are coming on Thursday, we've been forced to deal with the baby's room. We cleaned off the actual bed - now we just have to get the floor relatively clear so they can get to the bed without spraining an ankle. I was able to clean out one drawer of the dresser in that room to store the meager quantity of baby clothes that can be used for a boy. Like I said - one drawer. We also have a few blankets and one crib sheet so, we're good to bring him home! Andy then insisted that I stop "nesting" early and get my butt in the kitchen to unload the dishwasher. Actually - who are we kidding? - you all know Andy. He just suggested that it might be a good idea to eat before Emma passed out from the hunger pangs. By the way, we are up to 4 Rubbermaid tubs full of girl clothes that are too small for Emma. Did I mention the tubs are big enough for Emma to live in for a full day including supplies? That's ridiculous. How in the world she has this many clothes is beyond me. Oh, wait - I believe the answer would be 2-pronged: Grandma and Mimi.
School is going well. That's all I have to say about that.
I've agreed to participate in National Novel Writing Month in November. Some of the teachers at school are going to do it so I figured Why Not? At least I'll have company as I fail miserably.
Zoey has emerged from under the bed. I forgot how needy she is when out in the daytime. At least I don't have to check and make sure she's alive every evening now while crouching next to my nightstand.
Hope all is well with you all. Must go put the 9th load of girl clothes in the dryer. Sheesh.

Random Pictures
Here are photos from the beach over Labor Day. Tara, I'm still waiting on the ones you took!

Also, here are 2 pics of upcoming Halloween madness. We have purchased the costume. She insisted on wearing it the minute we got home. After convincing her to take it off so it won't be destroyed by Halloween, she demanded that she leave the shoes and headband on...with her Care Bear panties. Priceless.
And this is Emma at 14. Like the face, don't you?
NOTICE!
Upon picking Emma up from school today:
Me-Hi, Bear! Have you had a good day?
E-Mama, you late! Where has you been?
Me-Uh (slightly, nonplussed), well, I was at the doctor checking on your brother.
E-You bery late. Luke is gone already. Let's go home, Mama.
...Later, at dinner:
Me-Was Stephanie at school today?
E-Yes.
Me-Was Max at school today?
E-Yes, he had some junk on his face.
Me- (Minor brain lapse considering information I was given upon arrival at aforementioned school) Was Luke at school today?
E- No, Mama (insert hugh sigh and the you-are-an-imbecile- but-I-will-be-patient-with-you tone) Luke was already gone. You was bery late today.
Apparently Luke is the child by which Emma determines whether or not I'm on time. If Luke is still there, I'm in the clear. If Luke has already left - I am a borderline neglectful parent who leaves her child at daycare entirely too long. Good to know.
