Birthday Wishes

This year for Emma's birthday, we have a couple of things going on. First, she has decided that the Princess theme in her bedroom is "too babyish" and she wants a redo. We spent some time looking at new bedding and she's picked out something she likes that won't sear Dad and Mom's retinas. We have already taken down the Princess border/wallpaper and she's foaming at the bit to get on with the remodel. We switched the kids' chests of drawers and night tables so Emma's room looks considerably more grown up. For that reason and for the reason that we're trying to de-emphasize materialism, we're not putting a lot out there for birthday gifts. Plus, why buy a whole bunch of stuff that we may have to pack in the near future? Plus, little Miss Emma-tainment spends much of her time either watching TV, playing video games or making short videos lip-syncing or dancing in her room, so why buy anything else?
